810 W Townhomes
This mixed-income housing development resides on six acres in the town of Jackson and is adjacent to national forest land. The development simultaneously borders the Flat Creek and faces the ski slopes of Snow King, while maintaining access to the street along the northern edge of the site.
The project integrates both market-rate and affordable housing units in a coherent whole. All of the units have decks and primary spaces facing south for sun and mountain views - an orientation reflected in the building forms. Seven detached market-rate duplexes reside along the creek and two/three-story attached affordable housing duplexes are formed along the north and west boundaries. This arrangement of the units forms a courtyard and unifies them into a single community.
The use of corrugated galvanized metal and fiber cement board references ranch and agricultural buildings and requires limited maintenance. These vernacular references, combined with the arrangement of units, integrate the housing development into the fabric of the region.
