Sagebrush Residence

The main peak of the Grand Teton is the starting point of this project. The house orients itself toward the summit, two overlapping volumes rotated until their rooflines align with the peak on the horizon.

This alignment with the geology does quiet, meaningful work: the front door opens to a perfectly framed view of the mountain, and a stair rises through the heart of the house into a double-height space flooded with light, sky opening up as you climb. The geometry is precise but the experience is effortless — the house is held by the landscape rather than set apart from it.

Outside, the building settles into its surroundings without announcement. Native sage, bunchgrass, and wildflowers replace conventional landscaping, fieldstone paths wind through natural rock outcroppings, and the dark cladding recedes against the wide Wyoming sky.
